Lima Rural Development Foundation
The Lima Rural Development Foundation was established in 1989, is a non-governmental, non-profit organisation registered in terms of Section 21 of the Companies Act. Lima implements projects in KwaZulu-Natal , Eastern Cape , Limpopo and Mpumalanga provinces and consults throughout Southern Africa.
Lead Projects
- A farmer support programme, in partnership with Teba Development (as an electronic link) that services 11 000 small farmers in three provinces.
- A job creation programme, with Teba Development that provides work and training to 12 500 youth in home based care, agriculture, education and construction across four provinces.
- A targeted food security programme supporting 3 600 vulnerable families.
- A community, and home based care programme providing care to over 16 000 patients
History Snap Shot
- Management of Sappi Project Grow with 4 000 out growers in southern KZN.
- Running the KZN Land Reform pilot project and establishing the first regional office in Ladysmith.
- The restructuring of the KwaZulu Natal Agricultural Union into a multiracial organisation representing over 20 000 large and small scale farmers in the Province.
- A role in the formation of the Inkezo Land Company, the small grower industry forum of Forestry S.A. and transformation of Citrus Growers Association.
