NORTHAM PRAISES MRS DOTYE FOR BEING THE BREADWINNER

With funding from Northam, a garden fence and reliable water supply has been built for Mrs Mamzani Dotye in Bizana in the Eastern Cape. Mrs Doyte is a courageous woman who is currently supporting her husband (who is disabled and in a wheelchair) as well as three children. Northam funded the fencing and provided a tank to be set up with linked guttering to ensure effective rain water harvesting.

“I am so happy that this is completed, now I can plant cabbages, spinach, carrots and beetroot and try sell them in the local markets so I can provide for my family,” said Mrs Dotye.

“I am so proud of my mom, she is definitely my role model and has encouraged me to study agriculture so that I can become a great farmer like her,” said Oscar Dotye, the oldest son.

Mrs Dotye has grown vegetables before without agricultural support, but now that she has received support, she is looking forward to learning more about farming techniques from Teba Development and Lima facilitators as she hopes to produce quality vegetables that are worthy of selling to commercial shops.

The project is progressing strongly, and there is excitement on the ground. Beneficiaries of the Northam funding are happy to see their projects implemented and built, and are grateful to Northam for that support.
